MATAMATA PIAKO PLAN CHANGE 61

Do you live in the Matamata Piako area? Then you may have heard the news about Plan Change 61.

The Matamata Piako District Council will be introducing Minor Residential Units into the district plan within the General Residential Zone, General Rural Zone and the Rural Lifestyle Zone.

Allowing people to build up to a 60m2 second dwelling on their property, which can be used as rental opportunities, (not just for family) and would replace the ‘Dependant Person Dwelling’ rule currently in place.

This is a great opportunity for the district to diversify its housing options by introducing smaller, more affordable living spaces for residents. Additionally, it allows property owners to capitalise on the potential of their large sites by generating rental income.
