We are saddened to hear the proposal released last week for the permanent closure of Rainbow Springs Nature Park in Rotorua and to rehome the wildlife. After more than 90 years in business, the park was temporarily closed to the public in April 2020 during Covid-19 lockdown, and it is not yet seen as financially viable to open again.
KDH have been active supporters of The Kiwi Encounter at Rainbow Springs since 2007, sponsoring a Kiwi chick on behalf of our clients, for every KDH home built. We are pleased to hear the commitment to the Kiwi conservation work at the National Kiwi Hatchery, which is also currently located at Rainbow Springs, remains unchanged and therefore KDH will continue with our sponsorship package for every house built on behalf of our clients. The Hatchery is open and will continue to operate at this site for the foreseeable future while they develop plans to move in to the recently reopened Agrodome site.
